I have noticed the feature content panel does not work using IE6/7. Most likely due to the constraint p9. Also need to track down a missing close div in the footer or sidebar. Will also expand the height of the FCP. Still trying to figure out how pop mail accounts work and how to access them. I have already created admin@nlcc.com.au.

Progress is going well. I have spent many hours learning about WordPress plugins and customising them to fit into the website. If you see any errors or just want to give feedback, please comment and I’ll sort it out.

I shall be having a meeting with the Pastoral team to discuss the web content as well as layouts.

Sucessfully implemented calendar using plugin (Event Calendar 3.14). 2 other calendar plugins failed.

Implemented WordPress and got the foundation set up. I also mounted the revolution city theme, but discovered it needs to be overhauled in terms of missing plugins and applications. I implemented many plugins including stats, spam filter (askismet).

I was bored while studying, so I decided to do a before and after with an image. I ran various filters to make this effect, including filter forge (special), cut out, dark strokes. I wanted to go for a vintage look. Enjoy.

Hey team,

We shall be having a meeting this sunday after SOL2 class which is appx 2pm. We will be discussing the new layout of the website, as well as any features. The meeting will last for 1 or 2 hours appx. I am heading to the city at 4pm, so if you are going there I can drive you.

• Calendar based on Java/Ajax script which will allow visitors to see events coming up. Example: http://mesa.cityofgrace.com/ except days will be highlighted when events are on.
• A map which will give clear instructions how to come to church. We will use photos and google maps to clearly identify where we are. This will also include transport ministry and bus routes.
• Pastoral blog – will allow visitors an insight into the daily devotion of our leaders
• Youth page – This may not be ready before January 1st, however it will fun and fresh.
• Podcast sermons will be easy to access.
• Prayer request email system
• NLCC worshipnet song streaming (perhaps)
• Search bar
• Photo gallery (non flash)
• A “Visit Us” button
• Testimony page (text and audio)
• Lots of family photos
• Generally more information in each area including who we are, what we believe, staff, our vision, ministries and getting involved in them, etc.

If you don’t see any particular features you want here, please edit the post and make a note of it, or tell me during the meeting. We shall also discuss promotional ideas, who else is invovled, time commitments, work schedules.

I shall print outs of the revolution website and we can colour them in like kids and have fun. Pray before the meeting and ask the Lord to give us wisdom and time management, but most of all to have a good relationship with Him and each other.

Upgraded SOL slide. NOTE: Revelation 1:16 describes Christ holding seven stars in His right hand and a sword. That’s what those stars represent. Everythings done with a purpose. There’s no such thing as ‘gap filling’ or ‘time filling’ in ministry!! >=) God’s got a purpose so do we.

About the beginning of the month, Pastor Anne proposed the idea of developing a banner to display outside. The original concept was a 4 meter banner, with the text which relates to the coming Miracle Encounter. However, after researching costs, the banner size came down to 3×1 meters.

I have had expereince in making large graphics (A0 poster), so I knew the restrictions I had. I constructed a graphic piece in illustrator. The chose illustrator due to vector art having superior benifits with large scale projects. For those who don’t know, vector art is based on mathematical equations. Pixel art (Photoshop) is based on small coloured squares combining to create an image.

This was the first art I came up with:

Pastor Anne believed that the banner would not be suitable. She wanted something more vibrant and youthful. She showed me an internet image from another church and asked me to redesign to full scale. I scraped Illustrator and went to Photoshop. I changed programs because the graphical image was very complex, and illustrator just can’t make detailed cuts in a short amount of time. I don’t recommend doing this however, it’s only an exception due to time constraints. In the end, Pastor Anne was very happy with the final result, except for a spelling error “Come and find out FOR yourselves”. A very expensive mistake. This is the second mistake of typos. I pray the Holy Spirit will stop further errors in my work.
